Welcome to Decisive Views, keeping you up to date with our news.
We have been very busy since our last newsletter really building our ability to provide the highest possible quality in helping organisations develop their leadership and organisational capability. Our most significant improvement has been the recruitment of Martyn Gibbons and Simon Hall to our team.
Martyn Gibbons MBE
Martyn was awarded the MBE for his leadership in Afghanistan, where he was severely injured. As well as speaking on Afghanistan, Martyn brings to life, in absolute honesty, the challenge of leadership; what a team means; overcoming a massive setback in life; dealing with difficulties; and the need to have a vision and set long term objectives. Simon Hall OBE
Simon is an experienced mountaineer, who in 2007 led a team of eight climbers to the very top of the world, the only team that year to get all of its climbers to the top of Everest. He has led missions to rescue other climbers and explorers and is now planning his next expedition. When he is not doing that Simon is the CEO of an adventure training school in Wales and has led medium sized organisations. More

“Good to Great”, published in 2004, is Jim Collins’ follow up piece to “Built to Last”. In a clear well written style, supported by regular examples and stories to illustrate the points, “Good to Great” examines what it has taken for 11 business to transition from good performance to sustained great performance.
The findings are that they have followed three relatively clear stages with focused actions during each phase. Their performance hasn’t been down to a single individual but a single coordinated effort across the whole business.
Although this book is now 5 years old it is still worth a read and consideration of the findings inside. |
